Unrated Cecilio Donasco of Mindanao split the point with top seed Ferdinand Palermo in the fifth and final round to rule the MCC 1950 below standard chess tournament via tiebreak at the St. Francis Square in Mandaluyong City over the weekend.
Donasco actually finished tied for first with 10th seed Magin Cabual of Taguig with 4.5 points but took the title with a superior tiebreak score. They shared the P4,500 prize.
Palermo settled for joint third with Richard Berame, who beat Jonathan Eugenio.
