Sherwood Hills is breaking from tradition in handling club events as it focuses on fostering friendship and spreading camaraderie among the participants in the Chairman’s Cup, a two-man team event slated Nov. 22 in Trece Martires, Cavite.
Jimmy Borromeo, Sherwood Hills’ sports and games chairman, said the club is limiting the entry fee, already inclusive of a practice round, green fee, awards meal, raffle ticket and token giveaway, but said the teams will be given the usual tournament package for maximum fun throughout the day.
“We used this unique concept in our Invitational event in May and our members and guests were so happy with the turnout. We are utilizing it again for the Chairman’s Cup,” Borromeo said.
Borromeo also said club chairman Robert John Sobropeña would join the event where the latter is expected to thank the members for making Sherwood Hills as the No. 85 best golf course outside of the United States and No. 1 in Southeast Asia by world-renowned magazine Golf Digest.
The two-man team net best ball format, where both players play their own ball throughout the hole, will be applied. The better net score of either player will count as the team score. The maximum score per team is set at net 12-under-par 60.
For the sponsors/guests, the System 36 format will come into play.
The event has Golforce Inc., Federal Management, Club Leisure, Metro Rail Tansit, CJH Dev. Co., Camp John Hay Golf Club, Manila Southwoods, Isuzu Phils., Kork Inc. and Rudy Project as major sponsors.
Other sponsors are Interconnect, Warbird, Poblador Bautista & Reyes Law Offices, Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Industrial Waste Management, Mail Experts, Primepower Manpower, Fieldman Services, Custom Clubmakers, Wilson Sports, Rizgolf, G&W Clubshares. Nine Coast Enterprises and Forest Hills.
