Camacho denies ouster yarn

Julian Camacho has denied that he’s been ousted as president of the Wushu Federation of the Philippines and said he is still qualified to vote and run in the coming Philippine Olympic Committee elections.

“Yes, I deny it,” said Camacho from Bangkok. He was on his way back to Manila after attending the four-day Southeast Asian Games Federation meeting in Laos.

Yesterday morning, talks circulated that Camacho has already been ousted as wushu president during a meeting attended by a majority of the WFP members last Oct. 7.

A press statement bearing the Philippine Sports Commission logo said WFP secretary-general Edwin Pimentel has formally notified the PSC and POC of Camacho’s ouster.

However, PSC chairman Butch Ramirez, who is in Davao, ordered the press statement disregarded because Camacho’s ouster has yet to be formally accepted by the government sports agency.

Apparently, the press statement was released without Ramirez’ approval.

Pimentel wrote in the letter that “Mr. Camacho is no longer authorized to represent the WFP” in the Nov. 28 POC elections where Camacho is running as treasurer under the Jose Cojuangco ticket. – Abac Cordero
