Multi-titled driver Carlos Anton of Mark Young-Yokohama-MP Turbo bested a host of rivals to complete his back-to-back romp in the 2008 Philippine Hillclimb Championship in Talisay, Batangas recently.
It was Anton’s 16th national title in the various fields of motorsports in his 19-year racing career, including three in slalom, two in karting, one in dirt trials, seven in touring cars, and one in Formula Toyota.
He actually wrapped up his second straight Hillclimb in style, completing a perfect season of winning all six rounds aboard his Honda CRX on Yokohama tires.
Carlo Garcia onboard a Subaru STI took the runner-up honors while Anton’s teammate Alfie Concepcion finished third.
“I can’t ask for more – six wins in six races. The Lord has been so kind to me and the team prepared the car perfectly all season long,” said Anton after his feat.
Anton led a powerful Baguio-Yokohama team in the last two rounds that saw Concepcion and Dennis Aoyong fashion out wins in the Group 3 division, Frankie Domingo rule the Group 1 division and Harvey Robles clinch third place in Group 2.
