Gawad Kalinga visit highlights Arenas’ trip

Adidas endorser Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards will lead the turnover of a basketball court to a Gawad Kalinga community in Quezon City as part of the top sports apparel’s social commitment to promote brotherhood through basketball.

“We believe that sports, specifically basketball, is a tool to help the youth foster brotherhood and camaraderie. The sport brings people together in the spirit of wholesome fun and unity, that’s why this event is very important to us,” said Joey Singian, adidas managing director.

The Gawad Kalinga project will highlight the top NBA star’s action-packed, four-day Manila visit starting July 5 dubbed the “Agent Zero Tour 2008.”

As part of adidas’ mission to give back and to help promote sports among the youth, Arenas will head to the adidas-adopted Gawad Kalinga community hit by the recent typhoon to personally turnover a basketball court.

“We have embraced it as our mission to help improve the lives through providing facilities that would encourage the love for the game. By asking Arenas to lead such an undertaking underscores our commitment to this cause,” said Singian.

Arenas, 26, is also slated to make mall appearances at select adidas outlets, going full swing on July 6 at SM Mall of Asia at 11 a.m. where he will mingle and interact with his fans through fun and games, autograph signing of jerseys and promo winners, and a hand imprinting. He proceeds to the Rockwell store in Makati at 2 p.m. then at TriNoma at 5 p.m.

After gracing a UAAP match at the Big Dome, Arenas will head back to TriNoma Activity Center at 6 p.m. for a meet-and-greet session and a grand show highlighting Arenas’ hottest merchandise.

Fresh from his sold-out Gil Zero collection, Arenas comes out with a wider range of signature products, including the Black President, Vote for Gilbert, Channel Zero, NBA live 2008, Hibachi, Customize, I Love LA and Agent Zero. He also released Looney Toones special footwear Tweety and Bugs.
