Kenneth San Andres dominated Round 4 of the Mayor Tinga Cup Philippine Supercross Championships at the Fast Track Circuit, Taguig City recently, scoring yet another scintillating four-race sweep of the premier Pro Open and Pro 125 divisions.
The many-time Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) awardee for motocross turned back the challenge of eventual second placer JC Rellosa and third-ranked Jimboy Marcelo twice to score the twin-kill in the Pro 125.
San Andres’ domination extended in the first heat of the centerpiece Pro Open, where he relegated veteran Jovy Saulog and JC Rellosa to second and third places, respectively, in the motocross festival sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA).
His most thrilling win, however, came in the second race of the Pro Open where he came from behind to conquer the field.
Saulog burst out of the starting lap ahead of the field with San Andres giving chase. The two, however, suffered a spill at the first corner, with Saulog reacting quickly and getting back into the race, and San Andres tailing the field.
Riding last, San Andres maneuvered his way bit by bit, overtaking each of the five riders competing, before making his final push in the 10th and final lap.
“That was one fine show put by Kenneth for the Fast Track crowd,” said Kenneth’s father-coach Junjun.
Junjun made it a double celebration for the San Andreses after ruling the two races of the Veterans’ Class.
Other winners were Patrick Orbe and Jerrick Mitra, who placed 1-2, respectively, in the Junior 85cc; and Hermis Bantoc, who beat Gimo Gonzales in the Executive Category.
The next leg of the Mayor Tinga Cup Philippine Supercross Championships is May 4 also at the Fast Track Circuit.
