Future Eagle shines anew in Tiong Lian

Justine Chua showed what he can do for Ateneo in the coming UAAP wars as he powered Chiang Kai Shek College to its third straight win in the 32nd Metro Manila Tiong Lian basketball tournament Saturday at the UNO High School Gym.

The 6-foot-5 Chua, seeking his second straight MVP plum, posted 30 points, 15 rebounds and seven shot blocks as Chiang Kai Shek downed St. Jude, 68-55, to gain a piece of the lead with UNO High School.

“It just showed that Justine is ready to play in the big league,” said coach Sunny Co. “But he needs to adjust when he plays in the UAAP. Here, he’s almost unstoppable.”

UNO High School also kept its clean record by holding off Hope Christian High School, 68-62, in the tournament sponsored by Healthy Options, Inc., Puma, Converse, Burlington, FG Jeans, Molten, Davies Paints and MEC Network and Solar Sports.

It was Chua’s finest performance since his 24-point and 25-rebound performance against Xavier School in the opener last Jan. 12.
