AsPac Bronco baseball unfolds July 21

The Philippine Tot Baseball Foundation (PTBF) will host the 32nd staging of PONY Internationals Asia Pacific Bronco Championships slated July 21-26 at Angeles City.

The title in the division is one of the most hotly contested and most coveted in the region since the winner of this tournament will represent the Asian region at the PONY World Series in Monterey, California where traditionally 80 percent of Asian teams make it as world champions.

Other countries participating in this 11-12 year old bracket are Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. The Philippines last won the Asia Pacific Championships in 1989 and went on to win the World Championships. There will be two Philippine teams raring to duplicate the feat this month.

The host team will be selections of boys from the Central Luzon area and Metro Manila area. They will be coached and trained by the regions’ top coaches and supervised by the PTBF, headed by Rodolfo “Bay” Tingzon Jr.

PTBF, in cooperation with Rotary Clubs of Clark Centennial, Mabalacat and Pasay Silangan, has prepared an elaborate plan to welcome the foreign contingents and to make sure that the games run smoothly. They have also teamed up with Clark Development Corp. (CDC), the Clark Investors and Locators Association (CILA) and SM City Clark to ensure the success of the event.
