Blue outscored the Green in four of the eight categories but an 11-0 result in Class A orchestrated by Alfonso Gillego, Katrina Gonzales, Moshe Baldo and Juan Miguel Garcia who took the top four positions and a 10-1 count in Class B decided the outcome of the dual meet.
Ateneo also topped the championship division via an 8-3 count and Class C (3-2.5) on the way to nailing a 38.5-27.5 victory that evened a best-of-three series sponsored by PLDT and Smart Communications at one match apiece after last years victory by La Salle.
The new format put more weight in the top three divisions which had a 5-3-2-1 point system against the 2.5-1.5-1-.5 of the lower five.
The tourney which had ABS-CBN, Citisec Online, Consolidated Distillers/Carlos Rossi, Directories Philippines Corporation, ICAP Philippines, Inc., Filpride Resources, Inc., Nation Petroleum Corporation and Pisanti, was participated in by 280 players from both sides.
