UAAP ready to dialogue with DLSU

The new UAAP board is willing to sit down and have a dialogue with De La Salle to answer all the questions raised by the school following its suspension last week.

But the league said La Salle would have to wait till next month since the board could not immediately convene and come up with a clarification sought by the Taft-based school.

"It really depends on everyone’s availability, May is a difficult time for meetings," said Far Eastern U’s board representative Anton Montinola, the board’s designated spokesman on the La Salle issue.

"Yes, only if there would be no quorum," Montinola added when asked if it might take the board, now chaired by Luz Sta. Ana of University of the East, until June to issue an official clarification on the suspension.

La Salle last week seeks clarification on the UAAP board verdict barring it from participating in all sporting events of the league’s Season 69 in the aftermath of the suspension slapped on the school.

"DLSU will wait for the official response of the UAAP, whether it be a clarification of the issues we raised through a letter or a formal invitation for a dialogue on the issue," said a La Salle statement released by Malou Caluma, the school’s public relations coordinator.

Montinola, however, said an informal dialogue would suffice.

"We will eventually have an informal dialogue to clarify the issues," he said. — Joey Villar
