Miller, Honeycutt conference best

Talk n Text ace guard Willie Miller and import Jerald Honeycutt emerged Best Player of the Conference (BPC) and Best Import, respectively, though the Phone Pals were trailing the San Miguel Beermen in the fight for the Gran Matador PBA Fiesta Cup championship.

Miller, the 2002 MVP winner, was the runaway winner of the BPC plum, having topped the statistical race and gained majority of the votes of the media, the players and the special four-man committee.

Also a candidate for the season MVP award to be handed out tomorrow, Miller amassed 3310 points in winning the BPC honors. San Miguel’s Nic Belasco (1133), Dondon Hontiveros (868) and Olsen Racela (557) finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in the race with Alaska Milk’s Jeffrey Cariaso coming in fifth.

Honeycutt, meanwhile, won the Best Import award over Alaska’s Ajani Williams and Red Bull Barako’s Earl Barron.

It was Honeycutt’s second Best Import award in the league after reaping the same honors in the 2002 Commissioner’s Cup.

Curiously, Honeycutt is Talk n Text’s third import in the tourney after Earl Ike and Noel Felix.
