Centro Escolar University (Manila), La Salle College Antipolo and University of Asia and the Pacific bring to 16 the number of competing schools in the National Capital Region division of the countrys first and only tri-level league for women.
They will be joining 35th season host San Beda College-Alabang (formerly St. Benedict College), Angelicum College, Chiang Kai Shek College, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, De La Salle Zobel School, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Lyceum of the Philippines, Miriam College, Rizal Technological University, Siena College Quezon City, St. Scholasticas College, St. Stephens High School and University of the Assumption-Pampanga.
This years theme is "Spirits Jibe @ 35".
Co-presentor of the 35th WNCAA is Kotex with major sponsors adidas, Pantene, Monster Radio RX 93.1, RPN 9, The STAR and official balls Mikasa and Molten.
Also supporting the league are Cadbury, Rustans Essenses, Goldilocks, Citibank and Cafe Lupe.
Also during yesterdays press conference at the Pearl Manila Hotel, the induction of officials of the 35th WNCAA was held.
The members of the National Executive Council are: Ma. Vivian Manila, president; Donny Sayre, vice president; Angelica dela Cruz, secretary general; Corazon Reyes, auditor; Rowena Angeles, press relations officer; and directors Jimmy Buan (Bicol), Almon Oquendo (Calabarzon), Jun David (Central Luzon); Lucy Calagui (Cordillera Autonomous Region) and Meriam Ramacho (Visayas).
After an elaborate opening ceremony which begin at 1 p.m. on August 14, the juniors team of SBC and Angelicum clash at 3 p.m. in the first basketball match of the season.
The Miriam-St. Scho midgets tiff follow at 4:30 p.m. while the main game at 6 p.m. will feature newcomes CEU and UA&P.
Basketball games shift to regular venue Sr. Assumpta Filser Sports Center of St. Scho on August 15.
