Taekwondo Olympic bets to train in Seoul

The Philippine Taekwondo Association launches its bid for Olympic gold medal when it sends its three Athens-bound jins to Seoul today for a two-month special training sponsored by Petron and the Philippine Sports Commission.

Flying to Seoul this afternoon are Sydney Olympian Donald David Geisler III, Tshomlee Go and Marie Antoinette Rivero and Korean coach Tae Hyung Kim.

"We are optimistic about our chances in the Athens Olympics," said PTA president Robert Aventajado. "With proper training and support of Petron and PSC, we hope to win the country’s first ever Olympic gold."

According to PTA vice president Sung Chon Hong, the training will give the Filipinos the chance to learn the latest fighting techniques and styles.

The Filipinos will work out in different Korean schools and gymnasiums in preparation for the Athens Games.
