His effort, however, fell short of his triumphant 55.28 record in Vietnam last December.
It was the third gold for Team Philippines. Earlier, Eduardo Buenavista and Rene Herrera comfortably clinched the top finishes in the 10,000 and 1,500 meters, respectively.
