Nepomuceno rules Class A in classy Eagle Ridge

Peping Nepomuceno lived up to his top billing by scoring a 75 to win Class A by two strokes even as Rosanno Torres, Carlo Dones, Edgar Pacia and Arlette Dizon won the other divisions in the Wilson-sponsored monthly tournament of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.

Nepomuceno, one of the spearheads of the Eagle contingent in the Sta. Lucia Tour, turned back Reynolito Ronquillo by two strokes in the continuation of the monthly competitions at the country’s biggest club and one of Asia’s largest.

It marked the first time that the newly-opened Greg Norman course, the fourth at the 700-hectare Eagle complex which only recently opened its Family and Sports Clubhouse, was used for the monthly tilt. The three other courses are designed by Isao Aoki, Nick Faldo and Andy Dye.

Torres scored an 81 to nip Bernie Amador and Oscar Ordinario by one. Dones carded an 83 for a three-shot win over Jose Mendoza and Reynaldo Patilla and Pacia finished two strokes ahead of Roberto Arbis and three up on Tiong Hee Ngo with his 99.

Arlette Dizon showed up the ladies division entries with Imelda Agustin placing second and Misako Ogiharo checking in third.

Wilson Sports Philippines, through its general manager Jun Jun Plana, sponsored the event.

Meanwhile, Eagle Ridge recently held its first monthly bowling tournament at its state-of-the-art alleys with Sese Montejo, Don delos Santos, El Ramirez and Joe Uychingco emerging as the top four finishers.

Eagle Ridge project director Wini Gob said that more sports events are being lined up for members, dependents and guests.
