Lhuillier snaps Shineway’s streak

OZAMIZ CITY – Cebu’s M. Lhuillier Jewelers snapped host Shineway Ham Sausage’s six-game winning run, while Malabon’s Spring Cooking Oil fortified its bid by beating Forward Taguig Friday in National Basketball League’s Visayas-Mindanao elimination action at the Gov. Angel Medina Memorial gym here.

Danny Aying, Arnold Rodriguez and Ramil Ferma starred as the Jewelers spilled Shineway, 109-88, while Nathaniel "Tac" Padilla’s Cooking Oil Masters banked on Rolly Menor, Rodel Manuel, Edwin Pimentel and Tyrone Bautista to turn back Taguig, 83-76.

Counting their Luzon leg records, Lhuillier and Shineway are tied for the lead with 6-2 cards while Spring ranks second with 5-3 in the tourney sponsored by Oishi, Unimex, Shineway, Mei Mei Bijon and Molten (official ball).

Taguig dropped to fourth at 4-4 followed by Pampanga (3-5) and Mandaluyong’s Wang’s Ball Club (0-8).

Action shifts to Cebu Coliseum today with Wang facing Taguig at 4 p.m., Spring taking on Shineway at 5:30 and Lhuillier meeting Pampanga at 7.
