Samsung Am Tour up at Midlands

Tough playing conditions will make consistency the main requirement when the third leg of the Samsung Amateur Tour is held tomorrow and Friday at the picturesque Tagaytay Midlands course.

The cold January gusts have will just toughen the course, which builds its character around well-placed hazards on short holes. The fast greens also loom as an added headache for competitors in the five divisions.

The Samsung Amateur Tour is a 36-hole gross competition with handicaps used only for pre-classification. There will be competitions in championship, Class A, Class B, Class C and the ladies division.

Organizers are expecting all 120 slots to be all filled especially since the national finals of the Tour also backed by Taylor Made Adidas, Gatorade, Fila, Custom Clubmakers, Hotshots Flame-Grilled Burgers is also scheduled at the Midlands. Wave 89.1, City Lite 88.3, 103.5 K-Lite, Magic 89.9, KillerBee and 99.5 RT are radio partners.

The men’s entries will be classified according to their handicaps-championship (0-4), Class A (5-9) Class B (10-14) and Class C (15-19) and the ladies into Class A (0-9) and Class B (10-18).

Special items and trophies will be awarded to the top finishers while Samsung appliances, including a TV set, VCD player, microwave oven, washing machine and refrigerator will be raffled off.

The Amateur Tour is part of a three-in-one package that also includes the ongoing Samsung Putting Challenge, which recently completed its sixth leg at the Orchard Golf and Country Club and the soon-to-be-launched Samsung Interscholastics.

The Interscholastics is designed to assemble the best schools throughout the country with veteran internationalists in the frontline.
