Considered as the countrys biggest off-road car racing spectacle, the PRP contains two challenging races with the first, set to fire off at noon today, running 115.35 kilometers or 10 special stages and the second, slated the following day, consisting 41.40-km, event organizer Activity Asia Association said yesterday.
This years PRP looms to be a tight battle of national pride and all for the local drivers led by ace driver Vip Isada and navigator Robbie Hermoso as they would be pitting their wits against two Belgian teams that will carry common racing colors Speedzone and racing machines, Seat Ibiza.
Expected to give the locals a run for their money in the two-day affair sponsored by Petron Corporation and Petron Blaze in cooperation with Honda Cars Phils., the official car of the event; SMBA, DOT, PAGCOR, Automobile Association of the Phils., Yokohama Tires and Roadwise Motoring School, are Belgiums 1997 Group N champion Peter Desmet and co-driver Franky Beel and 1999 Group I national champions Martin Quartier and navigator Nico Artois.
