Heidi captures California women’s crown by two

Heidi Chua, a member of the national team to the Asian Games in Busan, Korea, won the seventh annual California Women’s Championship at the Industry Hills Golf Club earlier this month.

Chua shot a one-over par 74 on Industry Hills’ demanding Dwight Eisenhower course and finished at 4-over 223, two strokes ahead of Berkeley’s Anna Temple. Bellflower’s Walailak Satarak, who shared the 36-hole lead with Chua, finished third after struggling with a 4-over 77.

"I’m pleased with my game," said Chua, whose win came just a week before she turned 26.

"I made good decisions today. I stayed in my routine for every shot. Even if I had a three-putt green or a bogey, it didn’t bother me on the next tee."

Chua is playing on the US amateur circuit before returning home to play for the country in the Asian Games in September in Korea.
