Sponsored by Shell Advance Lubricants, MR Turbo Race and Rally Shop, BLTBCO, Fil Estate Development Corp. and Speed TV, the event is sanctioned by NAMSSA through its chairman Macky Carapiet and held in cooperation with the San Pablo City government headed by Mayor Florante Boy Aquino.
The Shell-Yamaha team led by Jovie Saulog and brothers Ernie and Jing Leongson will likely battle the Caltex team of Glen Aguilar, Bebeth dela Cruz and Johnny Garcia for top honors. Riders from Batangas, Quezon, Cavite, Manila and host city will fight for championships in 12 classes.
The track, designed by home-town riding kings Alvin and Jerry Beech, was laid out in the Fil-Estate project called Villa Reverina in Brgy. San Rafael, along the national highway.
"The San Pablo Motocross will be our initial event for the Speedfest 2002 series. We plan to hold races in Laguna and Subic and will help in the promotion of the countrys international motocross race in April," said MP Turbo head Mike Potenciano.
