National golf circuit up

The Tagaytay Highlands and Midlands courses will host the next leg of the Titleist-Footjoy National Amateur Circuit starting Tuesday.

Competitions in various handicap classifications are on tap in the four-day event conducted by the National Golf Association of the Philippines as part of its development thrust.

Players in the men’s championship, Group II and III will play the Highlands course on Tuesday and Midlands on Wednesday. The women’s championship together with those in Group I and IV and the ladies event will play in the last two rounds.

Interested players can register at the NGAP office (tel. nos. 525-6987/524-5160 or any Chris T outlets nationwide until Monday. Entry fee is P2,000 for non-members and P300 for members.

Players may also late register before teeing off on the tee-off days of their respective handicap groupings.

During the last leg held at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Cavite, Alexis "Bong" Santos scored a double-eagle. He won a Titleist driver for the rare feat.

Angelo Que, winner of two legs in the circuit at Valley and Eagle Ridge, will be heading the men’s field that also includes members of past national teams.

Carmelette Villaroman and Ruby Chico, meanwhile, are the favored bets in the champions women’s play.

Titleist and Footjoy products will be given away as prizes, according to NGAP tournament chair Iggy Clavecilla.
