Casas finishes 21st in APGA tilt

Cassius Casas emerged as the best Filipino campaigner in the Asian PGA Tour for the third straight year as he finished 21st in the Order of Merit ranking at the close of the 2000 season of the Davidoff Tour.

Casas, whose best-finish in the season was third in the Wills Indian Open in New Delhi, earned $67,912 (P3,327,731) in 16 tournaments. He won $65,104 in placing 19th last year.

Englishman Simon Dyson snatched this year’s OOM crown from Yeh Wei-tze of Taiwan with a victory in the Hong Kong Open, the final leg of the Davidoff Tour. He won $282,371.

Rodrigo Cuello, who unlike Casas has already won a leg in the Asian circuit – the Omega PGA Championship in 1997, finished second to Casas at 34th with winnings of $42,784 in 20 tournaments.

The soft-spoken Cuello actually had a series of so-so stints majority of the season but rebounded with solid finishes in the last five legs of the tour.

Rookie Gerald Rosales, who scored his breakthrough win in the pro ranks in the Philippine Open, finished in 39th place with $39,510.

Danny Zarate wound up 59th with $28,634 winnings while Marciano Pucay won $17,437.00 for 77th place.
