Silverio leads 1-2 Toyota finish

It was a 1-2 finish for the Standard Insurance-Toyota Alabang Team as Jojo Silverio rekindled the winning tradition of his family by emerging victorious in the wet and wild third and fourth races of the Toyota Formula Championship at the Batangas Racing Circuit last weekend.

Silverio and teammate JP Tuason drove with precision and teamwork as they led their team to its third and fourth wins of the 2000 season.

Silverio gained the upper hand at the start of the race by grabbing the pole position over a track drenched by rain showers early in the day. Together with Tuason, the Toyota Alabang Team's dynamic duo never relinquished the lead as they watched each other's back against the 1999 defending champion Pepon Marave of the Shell Racing Team.

Marave, unable to get past the defense set up by his two rivals, managed to salvage the third spot.

The fourth race featured wild action between the top three drivers, thanks to the strong rains that poured midway in the race. Silverio started again at the top of the grid but lost it in the seventh lap when he committed a miscue allowing Marave to pass him.

The 1999 champion looked headed to his first win of the season until the 11th lap when he spun out due to the wet track. Silverio and Tuason took advantage of the miscue as they passed Marave who tried to get back as fast as he could.
