Danny Santiago of Shago Racing Team served strong notice of his intention to recapture Rider of the Year plum, claiming the overall best time of the day even as his top rival and first leg winner, Dr. Peewee Mendiola settled for second in the second leg of the Shell Helix Slalom Millennium Series at the sprawling MAKRO Imus parking lot over the weekend.
Santiago put in a fast 57.45 seconds enough to earn him the overall and production series best time of the day in the race presented by Shell Helix.
Other backers of the RACE Motorsports Club-organized event are Firestone, Bridgestone, Fuji Film, Nodalo's Catalytic Converter, Z Speed Motorsports Products, Forsc Ink Mobile System, Jas Page, Sky Internet, Island Cove Resort & Leisure Park and Outlast Battery, the official battery of the slalom series.
Mendiola checked in 57.93 seconds followed by Ed del Rosario (58.92), Carlo Gutang (59.44) and Bernie Barbon (59.71). Barbon also won the novice best time of the day followed by 13-year-old racer Daryl Flores, 62.46.
