Canlubang and Luisita shoot for their second major team victories in less than a month when they head the powerhouse cast for the second Federation Interclub golf tournament teeing off this week in two different venues.
The Interclub tourney of the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines, Inc. gets going today with the 36-hole seniors competition at Wack Wack and Luisita as the solid favorite.
Luisita's top guns Carlo Gamban, Alex Montelibano, Allan Gaston and Lucio Yan will try to duplicate their runaway romp in last week's PAL Interclub in Cagayan de Oro where they reclaimed the crown from Wack Wack.
Also out to challenge Luisita are the Riviera squad bannered by Ben Liclican and Danny Pizarro and the Alex Prieto-led Manila Golf.
Wack Wack will bank on former Mandaluyong Mayor Ben Abalos and Alex Sison.
Tomorrow, the much-awaited rematch between the teams that figured in a hotly-contested battle for the men's PAL Inteclub two weeks ago fires off at the Sherwood Hills in Trece Martirez, Cavite.
Canlubang will be fielding the same lineup that scraped past Luisita and Manila Southwoods for the title with the veteran Tommy Manotoc emerging as the hero.
Manotoc will still have reliables Solomon Gines, Juvic Pagunsan, Abe Rosal and Jose Ma. Hechanova as his support squad.
Luisita will parade a lineup that includes national player Angelo Que, veterans Francis Gaston and Iggy Clavecilla, Louie Dacudao and Raymund Sangil while the Southwoods crew has reigning national amateur champion Artemio Murakami, Juami Rocha and Cookie LaO.
Southwoods and Luisita pushed Canlubang to the limit in Cagayan before Manotoc took charge and powered his team to victory.
Other teams competing are Tagaytay Highlands, Mt. Malarayat, Riviera, Orchard, Alabang, Negros Occidental, Manila Golf, Forest Hills and Pueblo del Oro.
