CEBU, Philippines - No one was hurt after unidentified men threw a grenade and fired at the house of the barangay chairman of Mirandal in Pontevedra town of Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Authorities said investigations showed that Barangay Chairman Aurelio Garita and his family were asleep in their house when the attack occurred.
Garita said he saw three men aboard a motorcycle pass by his house before the incident, and that he recognized one of them. It was not determined however if they were the ones who assaulted his house.
Police later recovered pieces of shrapnel and 16 spent shells from a 9mm pistol and a .45 caliber pistol from the scene.
They are still investigating if the attack has a connection with a feud between the families of Garita and Villaspin, which led to a shooting incident last May. — From the wires
