BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — The last of the three MassKara landmarks established for this year's festival was unveiled the other day at the fountain area of the Bacolod City Government Center.
The landmark was an art work by Charlie Co, one of the leading Filipino artists based in this city. "This is a rare art event when a visual artist unveils his works in 3D, which is larger than life in scale," festival director Eli F. J. Tajanlangit said.
The art work is called "Dreamer's Floating Carousel," which is under Majica MassKara Year 8, he said.
Launched in 2004, Majica MassKara is an annual art event of the MassKara Festival that showcases works of outstanding Bacolod visual artists, Tajanlangit said.
Majica MassKara Year 8 consisted of six floating colorful figures put on the fountain area of the BCGC, and designed as a photo opportunity site for visitors to the area, he said.
"We are happy that Bacolod has an artists' community that actively contributes to the affairs of the city such as the MassKara Festival. This Majica is the artists' gift to the city," Tajanlangit said. (FREEMAN)
