National Disaster Consciousness Month

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — The city government, through its Disaster Rick Reduction and Management Council, will celebrate the observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month from July 1-31, with this year theme; "Makialam, Makiisa, sa Pagsugpo sa Panganib May Maitutulong Ka."

City information officer Steve Gabriel said the highlight of the city celebration will be a motorcade around the city on July 11 at 8 a.m.

Gabriel said the government, with its month-long observance, urged all concerned to take action in promoting social welfare, human security, and environmental protection against disasters.

People must expand their awareness and deepen understanding on disasters and how best to prevent and prepare for them. Streamers placed at designated areas in public places and drills on fire, earthquake and evacuation will be conducted in some schools, Gabriel said. — THE FREEMAN
