BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Three suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed and seven were injured in two encounters with government troops in Toboso town, Negros Occidental on Wednesday and Thursday.
Lieutenant Col. Isabelo delos Reyes, 303rd Infantry Brigade civil military operations officer, said two of the three rebels died Thursday in Brgy. Tabon-Tabon of Toboso, while the other one, identified as Ka Gorio, was killed in another encounter in the same barangay Wednesday night during an encounter with 62nd Infantry Battalion soldiers.
Seven rebels were injured in these clashes and some of them were identified as Ka Chen, Ka Nazi and Ka Anoy, he said.
Lieutenant Col. Eduardo Gubat, 62nd IB commander, said no one among his soldiers was injured in the two gunbattles. (FREEMAN)
