TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippins — The Catholic Church and other concerned sectors continued to block the impending passage of the controversial reproductive health bill, also known as House Bill No. 5043 or "Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2008."
The dioceses of Tagbilaran and Talibon joined forces with other sectors and held a prayer-march-rally last Friday to dramatize their opposition to the proposed law.
The peaceful prayer-march-rally–participated mostly by students and teachers of private schools here, lay people, and parishioners numbering more than three thousand–was intended to contain the growing number of congressmen who are reportedly determined to pass the bill.
Placard-bearing marchers from as far as Talibon diocese and nearby towns started their walk from four assembly areas leading to St. Joseph Cathedral where they converged to listen to speakers lambasting the RH Bill. (FREEMAN)
