DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — A 50-year-old businessman was shot to death by four unidentified men in front of his house at 7a.m. Wednesday morning at Brgy. Bagatban in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
Police identified the victim as Manuel Lacson, who was earlier reported to be with four companions on his vehicle on his way home from Bacolod City.
Upon arrival at his house, the four men appeared and declared a hold-up but he resisted and even tried to flee. This prompted one of the men to shoot him in different parts of his body.
The robbers took with them four cellphones, three wallets and P250,000 cash, while Lacson was rushed to the Bayawan City Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police Provincial director Rey Lyndon Lawas yesterday told The Freeman that Jorgie Arquio, 33, a security guard of the Lacson family was arrested for alleged connivance with the four robbers, who were still subjects of a police manhunt.
A case was filed yesterday at the Regional Trial Court-Bayawan City against Arquio, added Lawas. (FREEMAN)
