National players naglabas ng hinanakit sa PHILTA leadership

Ukol sa suspensyon ng ITF

MANILA, Philippines — Dahil sa ipinataw na suspensyon ng kanilang international federation ay dalawang taon matetengga ang mga miyembro ng Philippine national tennis team.

At walang hakbang na gagawin si Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA) president Antonio Cablitas para umapela sa International Tennis Federation (ITF).

“Right now we are barred to play in all ITF-sanctioned tournament which definitely a big blow in our quest for world ranking,” wika kahapon ni Philippine women’s top rank player Marian Jade Capadocia sa Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) ‘Usapang Sports’ on Air.

Ayon kay ITF president David Haggerty, nabigo ang PHILTA na magsumite ng standard reportorial requirements na kinabibilangan ng mga plano para am­yendahan ang kanilang Constitution and By-Laws para mapalaki ang membership.

“Hopefully, maayos kaagad para makabalik kami sa ITF-sanctioned event,” sambit pa ni Capadocia.

Naglabas din ng kanilang mga hinanakit sa PHILTA sina national netters Treat Huey at Johnny Arcilla.

“The athletes should not suffer because of the shortcomings of PHILTA which we have no control over and are not even made aware of,” ani Huey. “I really hope that there will be positive changes moving forward, starting off with the holding of an election.”

“Kawawa kaming mga players especially the national team players ang upcoming junior players na apektado nitong suspension na ito,” dagdag ni Arcilla.
