MANILA, Philippines — Binanderahan ni skateboarding ace Margielyn Didal ang ratsada ng mga atletang nasa ilalim ng Go for Gold program sa nakaraang 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Humakot si Didal ng dalawang gold medals sa women’s skateboarding competition habang naghari naman si Rambo Chicano sa men’s triathlon event ng biennial meet.
“I congratulate our Go for Gold athletes for contributing to the success of the country’s SEA Games campaign,” sabi ni Go for Gold godfather Jeremy Go. “With hardwork, desire and perseverance, you have once again made the country proud.”
Nag-ambag din ng mga gintong medalya sa kanilang mga events sina kickboxers Jean Claude Saclag, Gina Iniong at Jerry Olsim habang nanguna naman sina wrestlers Jason Baucas at Noel Norada.
Nagningning din ang national sepak takraw team nang humablot ng dalawang gold medals at may isang ginto, dalawang pilak at dalawang tanso ang canoe/kayak at dragonboat squads.
“There’s nothing more rewarding than to see our athletes here at Go for Gold succeed in international tournaments such as the SEA Games.” dagdag pa ni Go, ang vice president for marketing ng Powerball Marketing & Logistics Corporation.
Sa kabuuan ay humakot ang mga Go for Gold athletes ng 46 sa kabuuang 387 ng Team Philippines mula sa 56 sports events.
