MANILA, Philippines – Magkakaroon ng pagkakataon ang mga swimmers mula sa National Capital Region na makalangoy sa 2017 Summer World University Games sa pagdaraos ng Philippine Swimming League (PSL) ng 85th National Series na tinaguriang ‘All-School Swim Challenge’ sa Oktubre 17 sa Diliman College swimming pool sa Quezon City.
Bukod sa World University Games, ang event ay magsisilbi ring tryout para sa mga international tournaments sa Phuket Invitational Swim Meet sa Thailand, Indian Ocean All-Star Challenge sa Perth, Australia at sa Hong Kong Stingrays Invitational Swimming Championship.
“It’s open to all with no membership requirement. We want our young talented swimmers from different colleges and universities to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity competing in the prestigious Summer World University Games,” wika ni PSL president Susan Papa.
Kabuuang 49 swimmers ang isinabak ng PSL sa nakaraang Summer World University Games sa Gwangju, South Korea noong Hulyo.
Ngunit gusto pa ni Papa na mas malaking delegasyon ang isali sa 2017 edition na gagawin sa Taipei, Taiwan.
Nais ni Papa na magpadala ng 96 tankers (48 male at 48 female) sa naturang event.
“We are going to different parts of the country to ensure that we are giving equal opportunity to qualify for the Universiade. We already have qualifiers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and they are all excited to be part of the competition,” wika ni Papa.
Ang top two swimmers, isang lalaki at isang babae, na may pinakamataas na Internatioanl Swimming Federation (FINA) points ang tatanggap ng Presidential Trophies at P1,500 cash incentive.
Ang swimmer namang may pinakamaraming records na masisira ay makakasalo sa Presidential Trophy.
Ang deadline para sa pagsusumite ng lahok ay sa Oktubre 10.
