MANILA, Philippines – Itinuring siyang potential na first round pick sa nakaraang 2015 PBA Rookie Draft noong Linggo.
Ngunit walang PBA teams ang kumuha kay high-scoring guard Roi Sumang sa first at second round bago siya hinugot ng Globalport sa third round bilang No. 28 overall pick.
Isang two-year contract ang pinirmahan ng dating kamador ng University of the East Red Warriors para maglaro sa Batang Pier nina team owner Mikee Romeo at coach Pido Jarencio.
“Siguro may nakita silang (ibang teams) na mas gusto nilang players. Kami naman, talagang nag-aabang lang,” sabi ni Jarencio sa pagpili nila sa 5-foot-8 na si Sumang, isang UAAP Mythical Five member.
Ipaparada rin ng Globalport sa darating na PBA season sina 2015 Rookie of the Year awardee Stanley Pringle, Gilas Pilipinas hopeful Terrence Romeo at mga bagong hugot na sina Joseph Yeo, Jervy Cruz at Jay Washington.
Samantala, tinapos naman ni Rain or Shine point guard TY Tang ang kanyang seven-year PBA career para tutukan ang kanyang business career.

To those who I have met, who did follow my humble beginnings, who believed in my capabilities, who put me up when I was down - I owe everything to you!” sabi ng 30-anyos na si Tang sa kanyang Instagram.
Naglaro si Tang para sa Xavier School sa high school at para sa De La Salle Green Archers sa UAAP.
Nauna nang napaulat na plano ni guard Chris Tiu na magretiro sa paglalaro sa PBA.
