MANILA, Philippines — Ipinag-utos ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang temporary ban para sa importasyon ng domestic at wild birds mula France.
Ito ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. ay makaraang makumpirma na ang European country mula pa buwan ng Agosto ay may outbreak ng avian influenza.
Sa ipinalabas na Memorandum Order 40 ni Secretary Tiu Laurel, ang import ban ay nakapaloob sa shipments ng live poultry, poultry products, at by-products kasama na ang day-old chicks at semen.
Una nang iniulat ng France sa World Organization on Animal Health ang outbreak ng High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza sa Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine, Bretagne, France noong August 7, 2024.
“We are imposing the ban as a preemptive measure to stop the entry of infected birds and their by-products into the country. This step will prevent the spread of the virus that could have a devastating impact on the local poultry industry,” sabi pa ni Secretary Tiu Laurel.
