MANILA, Philippines - Handa umano si dating Pangulong Noynoy Aquino na harapin ang isasampang kaso ng Ombudsman laban sa kanya kaugnay ng Mamasapano massacre.
Ayon sa tagapagsalita ni Aquino na si Atty. Abigail Valte, kahapon ng hapon lamang natanggap ng kampo ng dating chief executive ang naging desisyon ng Ombudsman kaya pinag-aaralan pa ito ng legal team pero maghahain daw sila ng motion for reconsideration.
“An initial reading shows that there may have been a misappreciation of some facts surrounding the incident, leading to some erroneous conclusions. He will seek to clarify the same through the motion for reconsideration,” wika ni Valte.
Samantala, iginagalang naman ng Malacañang ang naging desisyon ng Ombudsman laban kay Aquino.
“We respect the Ombudsman’s constitutional mandate to investigate public officials. The President recognizes the heroic sacrifice of the Philippine National Police - Special Action Force 44, and it is his – and the nation’s – hope to finally bring justice to the victims and families of the Fallen 44 and put closure to the issue as part of the healing process,” pahayag ni Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella.
Kabilang din sa pinakakasuhan ng Ombudsman sina dating PNP chief Alan Purisima at dating SAF director Getulio Napeñas.
