MANILA, Philippines – Pinabulaanan ng Liberal Party (LP) na hinimok nila si dating Sen. Richard “Dick” Gordon na sampahan ng disqualification case si Sen. Grace Poe.
“LP has not and will not authorize any person from engaging in a smear campaign,” pahayag ni LP spokesperson at Marikina Rep. Romero Quimbo Quimbo.
“We have always campaigned on Daang Matuwid and that we are focused on issues and our platform, not on personalities,” dagdag niya.
Isiniwalat ni Gordon ngayong Martes na ilan sa mga naging kaklase niya sa University of the Philippines na pawang mga miyembro ng LP at United Nationalists Alliance ang kumausap sa kaniya upang kasuhan din si Poe.
Tumanggi naman itong gawin ni Gordon na nais magkaroon ng malinis at maayos na eleksyon.
"I'm not interested in getting it from the backdoor. I want to make sure that the people will realize that if they want to have a country where they're going to have real leaders, they have to have honest to goodness clean, fair elections," wika ni Gordon sa kaniyang panayam sa ABS-CBN News Channel.
Naniniwala rin naman si Quimbo na dapat ay maging malinis ang politika sa bansa.
“Winning through a smear campaign will make governance difficult. We don't want that.”
