MMDA bumuo ng 6 football teams

MANILA, Philippines – Bumuo ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ng anim na football team mula sa mga tauhan nila upang lumahok sa mga amateur football tournaments.

Sinabi ni MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino na binuo niya ito upang ipakita sa mga tauhan ng ahensya ang kahalagahan ng disiplina at physical fitness.

“If other organizations have their own football teams, why can’t we have our own team? Besides, sports such as football develop one’s discipline. And with disciplined employees, we can have a better agency and better services to the public,” ani Tolentino.

Sumailalim sa dalawang linggong pagsasanay ang mga miyembro ng football team, na kinuha mula sa iba't ibang yunit ng MMDA, na hinawakan ng mga coach mula sa mga unibersidad tulad ng Ateneo de Manila at Perpetual Help College.

Ang koponan na “Roadikalz”, binubuo ng mga empleyado at traffic constables mula sa  Traffic Discipline Office (TDO); ang  “Medikalz” ng Road Emergency Group (REG); ang Sidewalk Clearing  Operations Group’s (SCOG) “Bungkalz”; “Decloggers mula sa Flood Control;  “Musikalz” ng MMDA Drum and Bugle Corps; at “Trapalz” galing sa Baklas Billboard.

Magsasalpukan ang anim na koponan sa liga na gagawin sa Philippine Marine grounds sa Fort Bonifacio sa Taguig City simula bukas Pebrero 19.

“Sports are excellent way to enhance self-discipline. They train you to set goals, focus your mental and emotional energies, become physically fit, and to get along with others,” sabi ni Tolentino.
