MANILA, Philippines - Kinuwestiyon ni Ateneo athletic director Ricky Palou ang kuwalipikasyon ng mga kinatawan sa UAAP board ng La Salle na sina Henry Atayde at Edwin Reyes at hiniling ang pagtatanggal sa kanila.
“I did (push for their removal). Both do not qualify for the position,†sabi ni Palou na tinukoy ang UAAP rules na nagsasabing ang mga board reps ay ang mga athletic/PE director o professor/member ng administration.
Ngunit sinabi ni Atayde na siya ay qualified bilang sports marketing director ng Office of Sports Development ng DLSU gayundin si Reyes na nagsabi namang siya ay in-appoint ni De La Salle president Br. Ricardo Laguda, FSC bilang kinatawan sa UAAP board.
“I have established myself as part of the board last year, I presented my credentials and they accepted it. Same goes with Sir Edwin (Reyes), who did the same three years ago,†sabi ni Atayde. “I’ll leave it up to my brother president (Laguda) to decide whether I shall be there (board) or not. In the meantime, I remain committed to my duties in the UAAP,†dagdag ni Atayde.
Ginawa ito ni Palou matapos ang nangyaring mainit na diskusyunan noong Huwebes sa kanilang board meeting kung saan tinalakay ang mga isyu sa mga nasuspinding coach at players at napagdesisyunan na i-forfiet ang naging laban ng Ateneo at University of the East at ipinag-utos na i-sit-out ni Eagles coach Bo Perasol ang kanilang susunod na laban.
