LeBron seryosong pamunuan ang players union

OHIO -- Naniniwala si LeBron James na nanga-ngailangan ng tulong ang National Basketball Players’ Association at siya ang maaaring magbigay ng suporta.

 Sinabi sa ESPN na ang NBPA ay “not in a good place right now,” nagparamdam si James ng pagtakbo para sa presidency ng union.

“I just think the union is going backwards and it’s not in a good place right now,” wika ni James sa isang panayam ng ESPN sa Akron, Ohio. “I think my voice could be huge in that situation.”

Bakante ang union presidency dahil tapos na ang termino ni Derek Fisher.

Nakaranas ang union ng kontrobersya noong 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement kasunod ang isang scandal ukol sa paggamit ng union funds ni executive director Billy Hunter.

Kung kukunin niya ang leadership role, si James ang magiging pinakamataas na profile player na hahawak ng naturang posisyon matapos si Patrick Ewing noong 1990s.

Ngunit ang problema sa Miami Heat superstar ay ang sapat na panahon.

“It’s something I’m going to think about with my team and go from there,” sabi ni James. “But I think we all can agree there’s been a lot of transition in our union in the last couple of years. If it’s not me in that seat, then I hope it’s someone who is comfortable with it and can do the job.”
