MANILA, Philippines - Isang naiibang pagsasanay ang ginagawa ngayon ni unified world super bantamweight champion Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire, Jr. bilang paghahanda sa kanyang title defense laban kay Japanese challenger Toshiaki ‘Speed King’ Nishioka.
Sa kanyang pag-eensayo sa Undisputed Boxing Gym sa San Carlos, California, ipinakita ni Donaire kay Ace Freeman ng FightFan.com kung paano niya ginagawa ang suspension training.
“We call it the Spider-man,” wika ni assistant coach Mike Bazzel sa panayam ng FightFan.com. “Suspension training. It’s like the ultimate plank right there. It’s the closest Nonito gets to flying.”
Sa suspension training, may tali ang mga paa at kamay ni Donaire habang nagpu-push up sa ere.
“It takes strength and balance. Just to hold yourself like this,” ani Donaire. “You got to hold yourself and maintain your balance. One slip of the wrist left or right and you fall to the side. It’s a great workout for your core.”
Magsasagupa ang 29-anyos na si Donaire at ang 36-anyos na si Nishioka, ang WBC Emeritus super bantamweight champion, sa Oktubre 13 sa Home Depot Center sa Carson, California.
“My goal in this division is to fight Nishioka because he’s the best fighter at 122 pounds. I’ve wanted to fight him for a long time the same way I wanted Montiel at 118,” ani Donaire, pinabagsak si Fernando Montiel sa second round para agawin sa Mexican ang WBO at WBC bantamweight belts noong Pebrero ng 2011.
Itataya ni Donaire (29-2-0, 18 KOs), nabigong pabagsakin sina Omar Narvaez, Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. at Jeffrey Mathebula sa kanyang huling tatlong laban, ang kanyang mga suot na WBO at IBF super bantamweight titles laban kay Nishioka (39-4-3, 24 KOs).
