MANILA, Philippines - Magsasama ang Pilipinas at ang British Embassy para sa 100-day countdown ng 2012 London Olympic Games.
Pangungunahan nina Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr. at Phl team Chief of Mission Manny Lopez at Ambassador Stephen Lillie ang nasabing programa bukas ng umaga sa Manila Polo Club sa Forbes Park sa Makati City.
“Filipino sports officials, athletes and fans share in their (British people) joy and pride in what their country has achieved since being chosen as host of the Games seven years ago,” wika ni Lopez.
Humigit-kumulang sa 15,000 atleta mula sa 205 bansa ang inaasahang sasabak sa 2012 London Olympics na magsisimula sa Hulyo 27.
“The countdown is one of the last milestones in a marathon journey by the United Kingdom and London since winning the 2012 bid in Singapore in 2005,” wika naman ni Lillie.
Ito ang pangatlong pagkakataon na tatayong host ng Olympic Games ang London. Ang naunang dalawang edisyon ay noong 1908 at 1948.
