MANILA, Philippines - Mga bata pero may sinasabing taekwondo jins ang ipadadala ng Pilipinas upang lumahok sa 2012 World Junior Taekwondo Championships mula Abril 4 hanggang 8 sa Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Umabot sa 14, anim na lalaki at walong babae, ang bilang ng kasapi ng Pambansang atleta na ilalaban ng Philippine Taekwondo Association sa kompetisyong inaasahang lalahukan ng hindi bababa sa 75 bansa.
Ang mga manlalaro sa kalalakihan ay sina finweight Aaron James Galita, flyweight Mathew Michael Padilla, featherweight Francis Aaron Agojo, lightweight Keno Anthony Mendoza, welterweight Benjamin Keith Sembrano at light middleweight Joel Manuel Alejandro.
Ibabandera naman nina Inna Izabella Dionisio, finweight; Colleen Heria, flyweight; Korina Paladin, bantamweight; Pauline Louise Lopez, featherweight; Suzzane Glehn Caslangen, lightweight; Bianca Go, welterweight; Melanie Hope Douglas, light middleweight; at Patricia Francesca Gonzalez, middleweight, ang laban sa kababaihan.
“This competition gives our athletes the opportunity to gain more exposure and experience. It is also a big step in our players’ preparation for the Youth Olympic Games in China,” wika ni PTA vice president at head delegation Sung Chon Hong.
Ang pagsali ng koponan ay mangyayari dala na rin ng suporta ng MVP Sports Foundation/SMART Communications Inc., PLDT at Philippine Sports Commission.
