MANILA, Philippines - Inamin ni Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire, Jr. na hindi niya nagawa ang gusto niyang gawin laban kay Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. noong Linggo sa Alamodome sa San Antonio, Texas.
Ito ay dahilan sa pagkakaroon ng sugat ng kanyang kaliwang kamay sa second at fourth round.
“There was nothing I could do and punched with the inside of my left hand and sideways because I had to do it no matter how painful it was,” ani Donaire, tinalo si Vazquez via split decision para makuha ang bakanteng World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight crown. “I knew this is my job, this is what I had to do even as I was surprised with the split decision.”

“His hand is really bad but he did what he had to do to win,” wika ni Mexican trainer Robert Garcia kay Donaire. “I think he (Vazquez) won a few rounds but I did’t see it as being a split decision.”
Sa kanyang official Facebook account, pinasalamatan ni Donaire ang kanyang mga tagahanga at sinabing gusto niyang pabagsakin si Vazquez.
“I wanna thank the fans for all the support. I was really looking for a knockout bc he disrespected my country, my people, my guys, n my wife. I did the best I could with what my hand could dish out. But again I wanna thank you guys again for all the support. This isnt just my victory, but all of yours too. 4 x divisional champion from the #PHILIPPINESRULES.”
Sa unofficial COMPUBOX stats, kumonekta si Donaire ng 42 percent ng kanyang total punches kumpara sa 30 percent ni Vazquez.
Bumitaw si Donaire ng 245 power punches at nakakonekta ng 147, habang sumuntok si Vazquez ng 163 at nakadapo ng 56.
