Allowance ng atleta tinaasan ng PSC

MANILA, Philippines - Kasabay ng paglilista sa 10 ‘priority sports’, inihayag rin kahapon ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ang pagtataas sa monthly allowances ng mga ‘priority athletes’.

“We are committed to give an athlete who won a gold medal in the last Southeast Asian Games a monthly allowance of P40,000 under the program,” sabi ni PSC chairman Richie Garcia.

Ang 29 athletes na nag-uwi ng gold medal sa nakaraang 26th Southeast Asian Games sa Jakarta at Palembang, Indonesia ay tatanggap ng monthly al­lo­wance na P40,000 mula sa dating P25,000.

Ang mga makakatanggap ng P40,000 monthly allowance ay sina boxers Charly Suarez, Dennis Galvan, Alice Kate Apparri at Josie Gabuco, sina taekwondo jins John Paul Lizardo, Kristie Elaine Alora, Maria Camille Manalo, Francesca Camille Alarilla, Ma. Carla Janice Lagman at Rani Ann Ortega.

Ang iba pa ay sina Eduard Folayang at Mark Eddiva ng wushu, Iris Ranola at Dennis Orcollo ng billiards, Delfin Anthony Adriano at Earl Benjamin Yap ng archery, Alfie Catalan at John Renee Mier ng cycling,Treat Conrad Huey at Denise Dy ng lawn tennis, Jason Balabal at Margarito Angana ng wrestling, Marestella Torres ng athletics, Frederick Ong ng bowling, Wesley So ng chess, Martin Diego Lorenzo ng equestrian, Danielle Faith Torres ng fin swimming, Nancy Quillotes ng judo at Elaine Kristine Flores ng wall climbing.

Kabuuang 65 SEAG silver medallists naman ang itinuring na Class B athletes at tatanggap ng P30,000 a month, habang ang 68 bronze medalists ay inilagay sa Class C at makakakuha ng P25,000 monthly stipend.

Ang 10 ‘priority sports’ na kinilala ng PSC at bibigyan ng pondo ay ang boxing (P15M) at taekwondo (P15M), athletics (P12M), swimming (P12M), wushu (P12M), archery (P10M), wrestling (P10M), bowling (P8M), weightlifting (P8) at billiards (P6M).
