MANILA, Philippines - Aminado si dating world light flyweight champion Brian ‘The Hawaiian Punch’ Viloria na hindi na siya bumabata at kailangan na niyang muling magkampeon.
Puntirya ang kanyang pangatlong world boxing title, hahamunin ng 31-anyos na si Viloria si Julio Cesar Miranda para sa suot nitong World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight crown ngayon sa Blaisdell Center sa Honolulu, Hawaii.
“I’m not as young as I was ten years ago,” sabi ni Viloria. “But I guess my days are numbered; I just feel like every fight is going to be that much more special, that much more important for me. I can’t lay off from fight to fight; I have to really keep it at my top peak as much as possible.”
Naagaw kay Viloria ang kanyang dating hawak na World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight belt matapos ang isang unanimous decision loss kay Omar Niño noong 2006 at nahubaran ng hawak na International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight title kay Carlos Tamara noong 2010.
Matapos ang naturang pagkatalo kay Tamara, dalawang sunod na panalo ang inirehistro ni Viloria hanggang makakuha ng title shot laban kay Miranda.
Tangan ni Viloria ang 28-3-0 win-loss-draw ring record kasama ang 16 KOs, samantalang bitbit ng 31-anyos na si Miranda ang 35-5-1 (28 KOs) card. (
