MANILA, Philippines - Tuluyan nang nailuklok si Harbour Centre CEO Mikee Romero bilang bagong presidente ng Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) sa isinagawang General Assembly noong Martes sa PNSA office sa Pasig City.
Nakuha ni Romero ang boto ng lahat na 14 directors ng PNSA Board dahil sa kanyang solidong programa para sa Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games at Olympic Games.
Iniatras ni chairman Boy Tronqued ang kanyang kandidatura para bigyang-daan ang pag-upo ni Romero.
“I would like to personally thank the whole board for trusting me to head and lead this prestigious federation with the sole objective of propagating shooting and developing future Olympians,” wika ni Romero. “I’m now preparing a five-year program with the end result of producing more Olympian shooters.”
Ang 40-anyos na si Romero ang pinakabatang naging pangulo ng isang National Sports Association (NSA).
Tatapusin ni Romero ang natitirang taon sa termino ni long-time president Art Macapagal na nagbitiw sa puwesto noong Marso.
Ang pagkakaroon ng pagkakaisa, kooperasyon at matibay na grassroot program ang mahalaga sa isang organisasyon, ayon kay Romero.
“Those are the keys to building this organization which Mr. Macapagal also helped nurture and develop during his term,” ani Romero, pinasalamatan si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr.
“He (Cojuangco) showed great leadership in finding peace and unity in the federation,” dagdag ni Romero, isang one-time “Godfather’ ng Philippine amateur basketball.
