Sinabi ni American five-division world champion "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather, Jr. na ang 23-anyos na tubong Bacolod City ang susunod na magiging world boxing king.
"Mark is my boy. He will be a world champ someday," sambit ni Mayweather kay Melligen na nakasabay na niyang mag-ensayo sa boxing gym ni Floyd Mayweather, Sr. sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nakatakdang sagupain ni Melligen si Mexican Michel Rosales sa Nobyembre 13 sa Mandalay Bay House of Blues sa Las Vegas, isang araw bago ang salpukan nina Pacquiao at Miguel Cotto sa MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Ibinabandera ni Melligen ang 16-1-0 (12 KOs) kontra sa 24-3-0 (21 KOs) slate ni Rosales.
"It is a joy to watch him spar, and see the vast improvements he has made over this last year," ani Briton trainer Tony Martin kay Melligen. "The likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Roger think highly of him, and regard him as a future world champion."
Ang laban nina Melligen at Rosales ay nasa undercard ng banggaan nina Filipino super flyweight Z "The Dream" Gorres at Luis Melendez ng Colombia.
Nangako si Bob Arum ng Top Rank Promotions na muling tutunghayan ang laban nina Melligen at Gorres matapos ang "Pinoy Power 2" sa Hard Rock Hotel and Casino sa Las Vegas.
Makakaharap naman ni Federico Catubay (25-15-3, 13 KOs) si Juan Alberto Rosas (30-5-0, 25 KOs) ng Mexico para sa International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight title eliminator. (Russell Cadayona)
