CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union , Philippines – The La Union police provincial office was adjudged by the Philippine National Police (PNP) as this year’s “Best in Police Community Relations” nationwide.
Senior Superintendent Ramon Rafael, La Union police director, received the award during the recent celebration of the PNP’s Police Community Relations Month at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
Rafael said that due to the partnership between law enforcers and the people, coupled with the intensified anti-criminality drive, the La Union police provincial office successfully arrested 61 most wanted persons in various police operations from 2013 to present.
“All these arrested persons have cases without bail like murder, rape and other heinous crimes. Because of this accomplishment, we were able to neutralize several crime groups and gun-for-hire personalities operating in the province and Region 1,” Rafael said.
He said good relations between the police and community is an effective way of preventing and solving crimes.
Rafael, who recently received the Diego Silang Award, the highest award given by the provincial government of La Union, also credited the achievement to the enthusiasm of his policemen and the cooperation of other law enforcement units, local government officials and the community.
